Jumping the Meridian: London 2012's Greenwich Park Venue

Sharon White and Ronaldo - Rolex 2007 - It's BIG PICTURE Day!

Did you know that the Prime Meridian runs through Greenwich Park - the location for the London 2012 equestrian competition?  The Prime Meridian, the imaginary line that runs north and south along the globe, is the point at which Greenwich Mean Time begins -- or Zulu Time if you're a pilot.   Did you further know that cross country is planned to bisect the Prime Meridian?

If this little  factoid  has made you curious about other plans for the London 2010 Equestrian venues and Eventing in particular, look no further than the  The British Eventing site. The BE site is loaded with information and links to videos and imagery regarding the London 2010 Greenwich Park Equestrian Competition plans.  Visit the site and see how Eventers will be literally jumping the Prime Meridian...

And, we wonder... Will riders gain or loose a day as they run back and forth?  Will competitors be younger than they were when they left the start box? Will cross-country watches still be accurate or will they go all wonky?  I'm sure I'm off base here. But only time will tell...
